Yes, I would agree that a skunk's publicity will kill itself
or the publicity that an Alderwoman and a man that did not win an
election can also damage a skunk. In south Georgia a skunk is
considered an animal of prey upon the dead. See this is the problem
that you and Mr. Childs forgot. Just like when your husband
threatened me in front of a witness that I would lose my home,
family, farm and business. Then he was dumb enough to write a letter
telling me that he takes no prisoners. He made the comment in front
of a witness, we have people in high places that will take you down.
My reply to him, you may have been everywhere in the world and flew
your helicopter in all kinds of battle zones and as you stated in
non battle zones. But he has never dealt with a redneck from south
Georgia that looks at his idle threats the same way I view bugs
bunny.
Just as the day that I caught EJ and Henry plotting and
planning at the church ground. Henry stated he was asking EJ if he
has seen any turkeys in the community. My reply, Yes, I'm looking at
two. Just as the statement you made at the October 2006 Board
Meeting we will have two new Aldermen and a new Mayor. Well I guess
your plan did not work after all, Sugar.

Danny, you're really paranoid. Everybody knows that Henry is a turkey

Now just stop all this nonsense.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No I am not paranoid in anyway but I do know when I am being stabbed
in the back. I told Henry also that day there were 50-60 turkeys on
my farm and he was welcome to kill all the turkeys he wanted. I
haven't seen him yet.
The real story is going to be told. I don't imagine you are going to
like it.
As Paul Harvey would say, "Now we know the rest of the story".

Hats off to you Phyll and Paul. I'll have to dig out my statistical

My opinion (nod to Hugh)is that the change in speed limits was never
an issue in the campaign nor after. (Mr. Crosby's candidate statement
from the RC Times follows.)

It appears to me that Mr. Crosby used the old sales technique of
"create a need then fill it." There was no outcry from the public
about speed limits during the campaign nor after. We were not all
crashing and burning in Coopertown. After taking office he believed he
needed to bring in more revenue as evidenced by his statement in the
paper "It's just good management." It was not an urgent public safety
issue.

Hundreds of citizens attended the Board meeting held at the middle
school to show their displeasure over the lowering of the speed
limits, especially on Highway 49, which he changed without Board or
State approval. The State traffic study did not conclude that the
speed limit should be lowered; that is what Terry Scott and I were
trying to point out at that meeting where John Holt was speaking of
liability. I have that report and notes of my conversation with the
State highway representative.

My point is, he created a perceived need (dangerous speeders) then
filled it (more police - more tickets!)then expects to be
congratulated for it. Speeding was not an issue during the campaign;
it wasn't discussed at the Meet the Candidates Forum, it was not in
his candidate statement in the paper. In 3 1/2 years I have only heard
from one person who was in favor of lowering the speed limits and that
person works at City Hall.

There was no need to go from 3 policemen to 15 and ticket revenue of
$12,000 to over $700,000 per year. Coopertown is way off the charts as
compared to similar communities.

I have noted Mr. Crosby's inaccurate statements in other posts about
me and will follow up.

Candidate Statement from RC Times:

Danny Crosby Name: Danny CrosbyAge: 50Occupation: Owner of Crosby
Equipment Company and Willow Bend FarmsFamily: Wife, Dana; children,
Ashley Miller, Trip Miller and Dalton Crosby. To not have to impose a
property tax, commercial development would have to come to Coopertown.
How would you do that?In my 33 years of doing business, I met with
numerous companies and have been discussing the possibilities with
several of them to move their business to Coopertown. In addition, it
is very important to have extensive lighting installed at the I-24
exchange. I will work with Robertson County, Pleasant View, and the
State of Tennessee to make this happen. In addition, it is imperative
that we clean up City Hall and get the citizens more involved in their
government. I will improve the services of the Coopertown Police
Department, and work with the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department
to assure that not only the citizens, but also the businesses have the
best service(s) possible. I will work closely with the Planning and
Zoning organization to promulgate a 5, 10, and 20-year plan of where
Coopertown is going and how we will get there. One of the most
critical things that has to be done, and it will be, is to clean up
the relationships between the citizens and City Hall. City employees
will be courteous and polite to citizens, which will be a major
change. I will change the way business is done at City Hall and it
will be for the better. This will enable any new business to see what
we can do for them if they bring their business to Coopertown, and
what kind of services they will have available. With 25 square miles of
area and 60 miles of roads, how do you plan to improve and/or maintain
roads?I first need to determine how much revenue we have coming in,
and stop the extravagant spending on unnecessary trips, like: Las
Vegas, Florida, etc. I will evaluate every road for its current
conditions and then establish a priority list of "things to do," and
the worst roads in need. There is a lot of State and Federal dollars
that are available for certain type of projects, and I will pursue
those dollars, as fast as possible. There will be specific
specifications put out on bid and once a contract is let, the
contractor(s) will live up to those specs. With my roads background, I
can assure you we will get everything done that is in the contract,
and every dollar spent will be the best finished product those dollars
can buy. With all the negative publicity surrounding Coopertown, what
would you do to improve its image? The first thing to do is to work
with the community to stop all the arguing back and forth between City
Hall and the citizens. I will set up specific times in my office to
meet with individuals that either have problems or need assistance
with something. This should stop the bad feelings at the City Hall
meetings and will go a long ways to strengthen the relationships
within Coopertown. I will make sure the proper notifications are made
for citizens to know about the meetings and their agenda so they can
attend, if they desire. I will also promulgate a periodic newsletter
to inform the citizens of what is going on and the stop the bad
rhetoric that has plagued this community for so long. I believe that
if the citizens are more aware of and are more involved in their
government, much better relations will exist. Why are you the best
person for the job?I believe I have the best-qualified background and
the strongest ability to work with others to get things accomplished.
This has already been shown with my efforts working with Pleasant
View, Springfield, and others to raise money to fight the dump. I have
the knowledge and the ability to combine all the possible resources
available to continue fighting the dump, and it will be one of my top
priorities. My background in construction is a strong asset for fixing
and taking care of the many miles of roads in Coopertown. I have not
been involved, like my opponent, with the existing management for the
past four years. Henceforth, I will bring new ideas and ways of doing
business at City Hall and will not have someone pulling strings to try
and control me. My administration will be one of "service to the
public" and not one that ignores them. I believe that I have the best
ability and know how to turn things around, for the citizens of
Coopertown, and clean up the past mistakes. I will pursue all the
funding sources, from the State and Federal governments, that are
available for special projects and the enhancement to current services
and minimize the use of current city revenues. In closing, I would
like to say I will bring respect back to City Hall and the community
of Coopertown. Originally published Wednesday, October 13, 2004

After taking office as Mayor of this city, Three weeks into
the job I helped remove a middle aged dead woman from a truck on
257. In the same accident I helped remove a 78 or 79 year old
grandmother. It was evident to anyone she was gasping for her last
breath. On the way to Vanderbilt in a lifeflight helicopter, this
beautiful elderly woman went to meet her maker. Her daughter that
was driving the car had two broken legs, one broken arm, a broken
ankle, and many other medical injuries. The other person that was
not harmed in this wreck, was a small baby in the rear of the car.
Then maybe a month in a half later, while out working on the roads,
I was called by EJ Bernard to come to South Walker Rd. where an
accident had happened. I was at the opposite end of McMahon Rd. near
Battle Creek church. If I could have gotten there 2 or 3 minutes
faster, I may have been able to save a human being from burning to
death. You were called by the City Hall to come and see what 38mph.
on a back road does to 2 vehicles. But you did not bother to come.
The other young lady that was involved in this wreck, I help remove
her from the vehicle. Which happens to be one of our beautiful young
people in this community. She was mangled and severely hurt. Death
changes the way you look at things. If you are present.
Yet I read on this website your insanity. You have never taken the
time as an Alderman to review and study the high speeds that are
being traveled through Coopertown. The DOT Department traffic study,
that you referred to in your post, showed the average speed through
Coopertown at 67 or 68 mph. Before I was elected I had never seen a
traffic study of Coopertown. But when I did receive this study, with
a 9th grade education that I have, I knew exactly what it meant. It
amazes me that our city attorney explained to you as an elected
official, what the liability was. A certified engineer of roads,
bridges, and speed limit studies gave us his opinion as an engineer.
Ms. Ruth, I have read all your credentials and all the great
education you have. I am still amazed today that with all your
knowledge and education you would sit before people who elected you
and you vote No for saving lives. You do not even speak for me in
any situation and how dare you tell me what I'm thinking. It is good
management to save lives. Now why don't you tell all these posters
how much dope is taken off these streets, and why don't you tell how
many DUI's have been arrested since the first of the year. Tell the
posters how many people from 49, interstate 24, and all the roads in
Coopertown have been assisted by the police department. And we have
never had 15 police officers in Coopertown, so do not mislead the
people. Get your facts straight. If you want to raise the speed
limits back up, get the Aldermen to do so. If you want to get rid of
the police department, get the Aldermen to do so. Anything you would
like to change, get the Aldermen to do so. Any law that the police
department enforces now, that you do not want them to enforce, why
don't you make a list. And at the next board meeting, just ask the
police officers not to enforce the laws of the State of Tennessee.
Let's just do things the "Peggy way".
The comments you made about Mr. Crosby's inaccurate statements, WE
SHALL SEE.

From your Mayor,
Danny J. Crosby

Yes, I do remember you calling Alderman Scott and I to come to the
scene of the accident. It was not a month and a half after you took
office; it was May 25, 2005, the day after the monthly Board meeting.
That night Terry and I had voted against the speed limit change – 30
mph and 15 mph at intersections.

I thought it was heartless of you to try to take advantage of a
family's tragic loss to make a political point about the vote the
night before and I still feel that way. Obviously Donna was quite
uncomfortable delivering the message. The scene of a fatal accident
is not a place for posturing politicians. As I recall the cause of the
accident was not attributed to speeding.

a matter of time until copies of posts show up in a court case........
