For Immediate Release

November 30, 2007, Coopertown, TN

Coopertown has cut the size of its police force by almost a third,
citing budget constraints and decision by controversial Mayor Danny
Crosby to change course in his administration. A captain, a
detective, and two other officers have been released through
attrition. Mayor Crosby is no longer requiring police officers to
meet their quota of four tickets per shift. Coopertown Police will no
longer patrol the portion of Interstate 24, which runs through the
city limits of Coopertown. "Our officers will patrol the streets of
Coopertown and will concentrate only on aggressive drivers" stated
Crosby. When ask why he was softening his long time stance of
balancing the city budget through ticket citations, Mayor Crosby
replied: " I have come to the realiazion I was hurting the image of
Coopertown by it's international reputation of being labeled a speed
trap". " I have also realized potential business, which could locate
in Coopertown, might have second thoughts about locating here, if we
keep ticketing their customers, as they exit the interstate". "Repeat
customers are a major concern for business owners", Crosby went on to
say: "From this day forward I will have an open door policy while
conducting city business and all my constituents are encouraged to
become involved and voice their opinions during the board of Mayor
and Alderman meetings". "From today forward you will see a more
humbled mayor" stated Crosby.

News Release

From The Desk Of:

Honorable Mayor Danny Crosby

Coopertown City Hall

Mile Marker 28

Interstate 24, TN 28024

We have completed a six month study on the crime rate in Coopertown and found the rate of crime has gone down as much as 97%. Much more than the expected 80% when we first announced our Assertive Traffic Control on the CoopertownTNtalk forum back in August of this year. This study was compiled by the independent firm of Muhlstadt, Anderson and Gill.

The study was conducted on the notorious, six mile, crime ridden stretch of Interstate 24 which runs through Coopertown on the western boundary. The following was a compilation by the independent firm:

Rapes: Down 100%

Strong Armed Robberies: Down 100%

Pillages: Down 100%

Identity Theft: Down 100%

Purse Snatching: Down 100%

Muggings: Down 100%

Train Robberies: Down 100%

MPH over the Limit: Up 90%

Political Corruption: Down 20%

One problem area, which showed an increase in crime, is speeding. Although our Assertive Traffic Control is designed to combat speeders, the data seems to be showing an upward trend in this area. We are considering putting toll booths up on the east and west bound lanes of I24 at the city limits to slow speeders down. Not only will this have an impact on bringing the average MPH over the limit down. It will also generate income to be used for the city budget, without the limitations of using these monies for traffic enforcement only.

Danny Crosby

Mayor Proactive
