I stand corrected, the mayor only won by 14 votes. The mayor's past felony conviction did not come to light until after the early voters had voted, not after the election as I had reported. Had these 300+ voters had this information, would they had voted for him? I just don't see the incumbent being reelected.

That's pretty close to the truth ok, 15 votes and he won. 2 years ago he one 2 seats on the council, Ms Susan and Mr Bill both lost. Some people don't care, others think he is doing a good job. If it wasn't for the headlines in other papers, I think he is doing ok. I don't mind the speedtrap, I don't speed. The roads are falling behind, price of oil has gone up. I am still not going to vote for someone else just because they say they can do a good job, with Danny I know what he does. He has spent a lot of time doing what he can to bring business to town, fix roads right, and clean up the place. If someone is going to run on a plateform of better roads, they better have an idea how with 90+ asphalt. If they run on a platform of no landfill, Danny already does that. I'm not for Danny, don't get me wrong, but I'm not going to vote against him unless I think someone else is GOING to do a better job.

I'm impressed oldmaen, if you can deal with Crosby and his antics, why vote for someone else. I have to disagree with you on one point. Where is the business you are talking about? Since Crosby took office Pleasant View has grown by leaps and bounds but I have, as of yet, seen one business locate in Coopertown. The issue I have with the "Traffic Blitz" is, I have to cross the 24 exchange bridge twice a day. At times I feel like Clint Eastwood in The Gauntlet with officers all over pointing radar guns at me. Personally, I think Coopertown needs new leadership and a new direction.

Doing a little flip flopping there aren't you oldmaen?

Just trying to give the views of one voter. It's like voting for Bush, I would never do that unless Kerry or Gore ran against him. We sometimes get what we deserve. That isn't flip flopping, that is voting for the least worse because nothing is perceived as better. My whole point is, don't say people won't vote for Danny, they will. I'm just saying if more than one person runs against him, he wins. It will be the same for counsel.
A High School education should be the bare minimum...and actually I believe it may state that in the city charter. I would like to know if you can get proof that he hasn't recieved a diploma or GED? I will read the charter when I get home and get back to you on that.
okyedokye , I see your point and i would advise if you see all of the shift officers at one intersection , make a call to the Chief and express your concerns , and i agree not all on a shift need to be in one area , unless there was a need for backup assistance and in that case that is an absolute priority .
Many officers are killed doing traffic stops either by someone pulling a weapon them , or getting hit on side of road , those are two major reasons .
Personally i would suggest a sole traffic officer for the area and the rest of shift patroling the area and one close enough to aid back up immediately and others can respond as needed .
I would also suggest if people really cared about their community they would ask more questions and get more answers and demand the answers and if your mayor or council wont answer , remove them , or put intense pressure higher up to get them to answer and do the right things for the community .
I find it complete idiocy when asked a question to reply " thats 5 questions and i wont answer them " , if your not going to answer then dont answer , better to remain quiet than to remove all doubt of your intelligence if you intend on getting votes again but in rethinking that , please do keep answering like that , it gives more voters a chance to see the real person and cast their votes accordingly .
Coopertown lost a chance of having a great Chief because of actions of '' others '' . Dont let this happen again . Book knowledge is never going to beat old school experience .
People realize there are things you can do other than typing on a website , get involved in your community and make your officials accountable to you , the voters , remember the ladder goes up for a reason and everyone is accountable including your mayor and council to others in the goverment chain .

MorningCoffee, You made some great points. Officersare killed by the person/persons they stop or are ran over by someone not obeying ONE law put in place to help prevent from a tragic event. I know I have not place any information on here since my last posting. The mayor and Cole made statements about me that are not true. I'm very hurt by those untrue statements. Fortunately personS looked into those statements and found they were false. I will post the statements made after I receive the validated truth and then try and post in the local paper/media. Right now I have to be careful as to what I post so to not give them another way to attack me. The attack is going to come from me to them. I can take lots but they stepped way over the line this time. These statements were made during the personel committee meeting.
As for your government, only the local citizens can make any changes at election. I do wish more people would get involved in the government process as I know only the citizens can run things the way they want them. The citizens can make it a better place to live and raise a family.
As for your roads getting paved, they will be paved when it gets close to election time. That is one of the mayors plans so it will hopefull get him more votes. Those words will come out of his mouth to me.
A statement was made about my time clock. I was told by the mayor that I was on salary and I did not have to clock in and out as I would not be paid overtime and that was the way it should be done. I can tell all of you tis. I NEVER cheated the city out of any salary/monies while I was employed as your Chief. Another person was present when the mayor told me this and I hope SHE can tall the truth when her hand is placed on the Bible and under oath. I liked her as we got along great. I know what she said at the meeting and I hope she has a clear mind for not telling the truth. Hopefully she forgot what he (mayor) said and/or she has to work to support her family and just trying to keep her job. I also tried to hire a secretary and was told I couldn't as no monry was in the budget. I know he hired someone to help with duties another employee had on her agenda. she did need help. She was overloaded. I know people may not like her but I thought she was doing a good job.
I was informed that Denise received some type of award/accomadation. She is very dedicated to her profession. she is an excellant officer. I was going to purchase her new uniforms as she has not receieved and new ones in a very long long. ( I think since she was hired) She was mistreated from my understanding from some officers due to her being a woman. I had intentions of making those wrongs corrected. I have lots of respect of her prefesionally. No doubt she would have moved up in the ranks in the department if I was still her Chief. I put her in charge of evidence and knew she could handle it. I had no doubts about her ability to be a professionaly officer and especially caring about the people. If you check the records and I am not wrong, she has been at the department longer than anyone. I can assure you this. The city will loose her to a departmemnt quickly due to her abilities in her profession. One of the reasons I am writing this about her is due to some statements being made about how she looks. All I am telling you is that their is more on the inside of her than just her looks if you knew her profesinally and personally. Be proud that you have her as a police officer. Anyone that reads this and are friends of them, tell the mayor that he met his match. He is mine legally along with Cole. They fired the shot and now they will have to answer for the actions/words they stated at the meeting. I do thank the people that keep me informed of the ongoings about me that are on this forum. Again, I do apologize to Mrs. Peggy Ruth and Mrs. Susan Slawson for making those statements about them that I was wrongfully informed by the mayor. I wish all and yours the very best in life. I will inform all info on here after I get the ok from my legal representation.
God Bless,
X-Chief Rose
P.S. Excuse my spelling.

You go chief! You might not have the position at this time but you are "chief" material! Just to clarify the comment about Denise's looks, she is a very attractive women. Didn't want anybody to think in the other direction.

An interesting article in the Tennessean today:
A Metro police commander has been named police chief in Mt. Juliet.
Andy Garrett will take over as head of the fast-growing Wilson County town's police force in early July, said City Manager Randy Robertson.
Garrett commands Metro's Central Precinct, which includes all of downtown Nashville. According to his resume, he has been in law enforcement for more than 30 years, much of that with Metro.
He takes over a department in Mt. Juliet that has about 55 employees and a budget of around $5 million, Robertson said.
Former police Chief Winston Floyd retired in January, ending a 25-year career with the Mt. Juliet Police Department.
Deputy Chief James Hambrick has run the department during the search for Floyd's replacement and will continue until Garrett comes on board, Robertson said.
Garrett was one of about 30 people who applied for the chief job.
What is interesting about this article is the longevity Chief Floyd had with the Mt.Juliet Police Department. This tells me the mayor/mayors let the police chief run the department the way he felt it should be ran without interference.
Now, in contrast, we have Coopertown with an average police chief longevity of 6 months during Mayor Crosby's tenure. “I’ve learned a lot,” Crosby said, quoted from an interview with the Tennessean. He has learned a lot! I'll give him that. He has learned how to destroy a man's life with lies, false accusations, defamation of character, deceit and he gets better at it every time he hires a new chief.

The people put him in that position and if people continue to vote him in because they are not well accquianted with another candidate , it is going to continue .
Please people when it comes election time , don't vote by just the name you know , ask questions , get answers and put an end to this merry go round and go up the govermental ladder with your concerns , not just voice them here .

MorningCoffee, here are quotes from a post in another Coopertown forum:
Quote:
People complained when the interim chief was hired by the mayor, apparently without as much input as was wanted.
Yes people voiced their complaints due to the mayor circumventing his own appointed Personnel Committee by hiring the interim chief outside the selection process and when questioned why? His response: "he's here because I hired him". One worthy item of interest: the mayor has hired ALL chiefs, except one, outside the selection process.
Quote:
Now he leaves and the same people are unhappy. It seems almost impossible that the mayor or the personnel committee could hire someone that would not bring complaints.
Nobody can complain about who the Personnel Committee has hired because they haven't hired any chief during Crosby's tenure as mayor.
One worthy item of interest: the chief did not leave of his own accord. He was railroaded and forced to resign through lies and slander, but that is not a valid reason for anyone to complain. Is it?
Quote:
But we need to ask yourselves, has it really impacted our lives one way or the other?
As far as the general population, Mayor Crosby hasn't done anything that has made an impact on their lives. On the other side of the interstate you can see an ongoing impact on the daily lives of Pleasant View's residents. Coopertown residents still have to come to Pleasant View or Springfield to shop, eat out, seek medical care or mail a package at the post office. Unless you are one of those unfortunate individuals who has crossed Crosby's path or got caught in the Speed Blitz, there is absolutly no impact what so ever on your daily life.
Quote:
Hasn't the absence of daily complaints on the old forum made it at least feel like Coopertown was a nicer place to live? Sometimes percerption is everything.
This is an invitation not to complain on this particular forum, so I don't. Maybe this is why it only has 12 members and 23 post since it's inception on Feb 10. My point is, most people in Coopertown just don't care as long as the dump stays out and out of towners pay fines through the Speed Blitz so there will be no city taxes. And with that attitude, the mayor could possibly be reelected.

I would be thinking that your right Paul. But fortunately, the main voting block for the Mayor's slim victory was the huge Wilson clan. Which is so huge that this man will need 100's of new votes as opposed to 30 or 40 more. They have more cousins that live around here than one man could imagine. They have family willing to help who don't even live in Coopertown. That is if Kyle is going to run and with the a newborn he may have other priorities than Coopertown. If we have a solid candidate that the people either know or can be persuaded to look at seriously, we will have a great chance should he be silly enough to waste his time running again.
