The board approved the final candidate. After careful consideration and good discusions on each applicant we gave our approval for Chief Burchwell. May God be his guide he has been given a challenge that few have shown a capacity to weather.
Some will say it is our fault for the officers running off. I say the fact of the matters have been normal reaction to bad actions with only a few citizens caring enough to get off the couch and vote much less care, you just can't blame the watchdogs for having their facts straight and expext nothing to occur later.
Spin put on to make the facts appear different is easily seen through just from the past experiences with the main players. Any person willing to look at the facts, that have not been on that payroll or a family member, come to similar conclusions about the whole mess. The "X" amount of Chiefs, Recorders, Clerks and Officers this 4 year period speaks for itself to even the lazy ones. It is all they will see in the end. The few proud supporters can't explain that away and say it was good management in any sense of the phrase.
If my making an error on the level of involvement of the by the mayor in that sting on this little ol' blog spot is hurting the community, then surely it is nothing compared to the London Times picking up on it of their own accord. I did not make that happen the mayor did by his deeds he was willing to admit in a court of law. All be it, he claimed he was just joking and maybe he was.
The officers who lost their jobs after claiming he did say those things, well, they seem to disagree with him on his take on it and this has to play out all the way now. It is more than just his word against the officers, there is apparently evidence to support the claim as the Fed's have agreed to hear the cases. I know it does not make it a done deal but it does appear to be going to be heard in Federal Court.
If that whole mess has not caused us harm as a community, then I will eat my hat! Anybody upset at people pointing it out may have something at stake. The sorry fact of the matter is there has been apparent injustices commited. which have been listed in great detail and to ignore the number of complaints without further review would serve no good purpose. I cannot imagine it any other way and think for one second the right thing happened. Some of these peoples stories I know more than the others but I believe them and have reason to do so as I witnessed the personality traits too. I do think it is real easy now for someone to blame X Chiefs for everything as each has been fired or encouraged to resign since EJ. Unforturnetly for the city, some of these same people are smart enough to know what their rights really are and are not.

Paul I like your picture!!!! I think you are close but you don’t win a cigar. It is someone who is very close to Crosby and knew very little about EJ we have asked this person to change his name and to no avail continues to torment websites with their opinion. This person didn’t know anything about E. J. Bernard he was honest, pleasant, had integrity, professional and loved the citizens of Coopertown and the City. Never would he try to cause the problems this ghost has with untruths and accusations! It has been the assumption on a lot of Citizens that the City and administration caused EJ his life. Now if this person has the respect for the dead and the citizens of this community that loved and admired him they would change their name or drop off the radar entirely. I was one who greatly appreciated and depended on this man for guidance and friendship and this was years before he became part of Coopertown! He is greatly missed by his friend's and family and the ghost needs to find a new appendage and drop this ghost bit! You need to find the light and walk into it and find eternal peace.

I agree Glenda, the Ghost of EJ is not the puppet master himself.

Speaking of Ghost....
How's your lawsuit coming Ghost? The one where you are going to use your winnings and buy a boat, call it the SS Crosby? You where right, the comptrollers office did fire a torpedo across the bow of the SS Crosby in the way of unreported stolen funds from the ticket receipts. Another torpedo was fired across the bow of the SS Crosby and was heard across the state of Tennessee. This shot came from across the interstate by Pleasant View's own city judge and lawyer, Greg Smith, who successfully challenged Coopertown's right to patrol the interstate. Not only did he hit the court house but he hit the SS Crosby and it is sinking fast.

Posted: Wed Jul 23, 2008 4:37 pm Post subject: Suit seeking thousands in ticket refunds moves a step closer
A class-action lawsuit seeking the refund of hundreds of thousands of dollars in Coopertown traffic tickets and fines might be one step closer, but the city's mayor, Mayor Danny Crosby, sounds not a bit worried.
"We will go the distance," Crosby said Tuesday.
Clarksville attorney Greg Smith, who successfully argued last month that Coopertown City Judge Earl Porter had to dismiss a traffic ticket because the city lacked jurisdiction to patrol Interstate 24 between Jan. 1 and June 5, filed a complaint Monday seeking a declaratory judgment.
The complaint seeks to have Circuit Court Judge Ross Hicks reach much the same finding Porter did last month — that Coopertown lacked jurisdiction because it failed to comply with a state requirement to notify the Department of Safety of its intent to patrol the interstate.
"After that decision has been made, then you can ask for the class-action (suit)," Smith said.
Though the complaint lists 22 names as plaintiffs, Smith said he is representing 44 clients in their fight to have traffic tickets overturned. In such a suit, plaintiffs would seek a refund of all fines and fees charged by Coopertown to ticketed drivers. Smith said a potential refund could total $200,000.
Crosby confident
On June 4, Porter dismissed a ticket issued to Cumberland Furnace man Jeff Davis, who was issued a $202 ticket for following too closely to a Coopertown officer on I-24.
Following that ruling, Coopertown notified the state of its intent to patrol, and received permission to do so beginning June 6.
Drivers who received tickets this year prior to June 6 and had not paid their fines were never prosecuted in court. For those who already paid their fines, court costs and traffic school fees, Crosby said it was too late.
"Once it's adjudicated, it's over and done with," Crosby said, adding that he was therefore "very" confident in his city's chances should the case become a class-action suit. Smith said Coopertown officials have 30 days to respond to the complaint and a ruling is possible within "a couple of months."
If the case becomes a lawsuit, Smith said such a process could take up to a year or more.
If the declaratory judgment is granted, Smith said it would give Coopertown officials another chance to settle before going to a class-action suit.
Smith said the declaratory judgment should settle the biggest question of a class-action suit — whether Coopertown had jurisdiction to issue tickets.
Crosby, however, said he and Coopertown would stand firm, adding that this is the not the first time Coopertown's ticketing practices have come under scrutiny.
"In every case and every situation, I've stood my ground — and guess what? We're going to stand our ground here," Crosby said.
Crosby weathered an ouster attempted by Coopertown citizens in 2006.
Though that attempt was not successful, a Tennessee Court of Appeals judge found "Crosby wanted the police officers to ticket anyone and everyone for traffic violations in order to help finance the (city's) operations."
For his part, Crosby advises drivers to obey the law in Coopertown.
"You break the law, you're gonna get a ticket," he said. "If you have a flat tire, we're gonna stop and help."

Yea, just like he stood his ground when he refused to accept the check which had "speed trap" written on the "For" line!

The question still remains why is Crosby keeping, A BIG SECRET-Cole and Rose's Drug test results!!!
Let me ask you something EJ. How could you crawl in Crosby's head and know he was keeping the drug test a secret? Why would you post that secret information on this public forum? Due to the chronology of events, clandestine activities and a possible liability issue, I believe I know the reason he wanted to keep it a secret. Now you tell me your reason.
Politicians do have strange bedfellows.

Dear Mr. Rose:
I do say you cannot be too smart with that dare. I guess the next question is what is the relevance?? If you read my posts, I never publish any facts that cannot be proven. I do however ask lots of questions to clear up rumors. Many of the current and especially one former officer have made interesting comments when your name is brought up. The common theme is that you always appeared to be baked out of your mind.
Sgt. Cole appeared at a personal committee meeting and demanded that Crosby release these results and he refused. We must all remember that you were Crosby’s pick. He was quoted as saying that you were here because he brought you here. If the results were negative he would have jumped up with that information. You can never be sued for saying something positive about someone, or supplying information that would clear their good name. INSTEAD, he hung his fat head and refused to answer.
So I ask you to just ask yourself what folks should think about you. I for one have not seen the results. I would never say that I have credible information about your results. I further find it interesting that you were never tested upon initial hire as everyone else does at city hall. I find it more amazing that The alleged conduct by Peggy Ruth bothered you so much that you timed your resignation (without notice) on the eve of your results of your test results being received by the City of Coopertown.
So Mike, did you pass or not?? Send a notarized letter to city hall and ask them to release the results to anyone who wants to see them. On an interesting note Sgt. Cole refused to publish his when requested. AS MY DADDY USED TO SAY PUT UP OR SHUT UP!!!

Ghost you took the dare and now it is game on. As I said Mr. Rose is not Guesswho. I am Guesswho and I am Connie Rose. Yes, we do have a certified copy from the lab of Mike's results. He asked to take a drug test in the beginning and Crosby said no. That was because he was being brought in to save them from losing the P.O.S.T. accrediation. He even hired the man that Crosby really wanted. The drug test was taken the day of his resignation asked for by Cole for Crosby. We have nothing to hide abut apparently you do. As I said Game On!!!!!!!!!!!! What is luxurydrug rehab.com? I saw no information about mike on there.
