I want to hear from all of you on this one? It is a pivotal issue and one that could use some discussion.

Sounds good, the child molesters and drug dealers love the parks! Will there be a property tax to pay for the property or how will you pay to acquire the property for it? Who will maintain the grounds and how will they be compensated? There are some points for discussion

Fortunately, Coopertown has a tough enough image to discourage those categories of people away from our community. We live in the 21st century now and our youth deserve a place to be able to play sports or run on a playground (not associated with a school).

As for land acquisition, I bet there is a farmer out in our community willing to gift a section of land for the park. However, that is just a suggestion, as was this whole topic.

A common misconception in our community is the property tax. If your current mayor, Danny Crosby, would sign the loan for his lighting project that he desires (larger than what the state suggests) he would have to guarantee the funds to pay it and how else would he have to do that??? A property tax pledge. Don't let him fool you again.

If a park were to be established, the landfill issue would be DEAD completely without any fears of resurfacing. I will get you more information on this federal law! Hold tight!

Leo,
Of all the ideas I have been a part of, I have sensed that spending tax money on anything puts some people out every single time. I am more like them and I almost always say no in a knee jerk reaction everytime they say "raise taxes" (off of my sweat I might add), but I sure think a city park is just the basics of any thriving community.

Maybe by providing a safe place to go attend sports or have other fun outings we can grow as a group. As far as creeps go, they will always come anywhere humans are. We certainly do need to consider their habits and be watchful parents (and not expect others to do our jobs for us). Parenting during situations like mall trips and a good theme park is far harder than at a local community park when you cut to the chase. The whacko's are sure out there but they are less likely to do things if you know where your kids are. Just like your supposed to be "knowing".

Taxes are a tougher arguement for me. I would however, love to see this park happen and use the landfill site to ensure no further chance for them. They have lost and we can buy it up using fair market value as it's landfill status, set by the court, is a big NO WAY. Now is a better time than ever it has been to acquire this land too. Now before the bills come due on the civil cases pending againt the mayor and city that might deserve to be paid in all fairness. We sure have a slew of, what I feel are serious civil lawsuits with a very good chance to win. Cases which if any one of them stick it will be 'Katy bar the door'!
